Meet Nishi

Travel writer & Content Creator

Hey! I’m Nishi (pronounced like ‘fishy’)

I’m a travel writer, the creator of nishiv.com and video content creator. I share my authentic independent travel advice, vegan culinary experiences abroad and document all of my adventures.

I love to travel in search of unique memorable experiences; to the destinations I think my readers would like to know and read about. So here you will find a catalogue of my travel jaunts; through curated personal travel guides, my penchant for luxury hotels that don’t break the bank, a mostly vegan appetite for street food and fine dining alike and a whole host of my personal experiences through reviews, tips, recommendations, photography and videos. Not to mention a suite of resources to help you create epic memories of your own.

My travel blog is for people who want to make the most of their annual leave, weekends and money, by exploring the world. I give practical and easy to follow advice on how you can recreate my adventures to suit your budget.

This blog fuels the wanderlust of independent travellers in search of memorable adventures.

About Nishi V

I’m a 30 something Londoner, coffee addict and someone who certainly can’t get enough stamps in their passport!

I grew up in the Midlands, moving to London when I turned 18 which is around the time my love of travel grew. I (miraculously) managed to convince my parents to let me move to Florence for a few months mid way through my Business Management degree to do a fashion internship. A traditional job was never for me, but my degree was supposed to be my fall-back plan should I not succeed at something creative in the future.

At the age of 19, not only was this my first solo trip, it was also my first time leaving the country without my family and subsequently where I fell in love with Italy. I travelled as much as I could across the country with my roommate, in between fashion school and language classes, and we had the time of our lives!

Shortly after returning home, I met my husband-to-be, Jass. I casually mentioned to him how much I’d fallen in love with Capri, how romantic this stunning island was and my aspirations of getting married there one day. Back then, Capri wasn’t the instagram hotspot it is today – I mean, camera phones weren’t even around then, never mind having internet access on your phone. So it truly was a hidden gem!

A few years into our relationship, he surprised me with a trip to Capri, where he got down on one knee with a ring (reader, I married him) after which we pursued our love of travel together.. Many of which I documented in various handwritten travel journals before I even knew what a blog was.

Nishi V, winner of the new generation beauty influencer awards 2017 for women of colour

Shortly after graduating, I pursued a career in makeup and beauty, leading me to start my blog in 2014 with the hope of helping fellow people of colour find beauty products for their skin tone. I received some incredible recognition for this by winning two awards for my blog, one aptly named the ‘New Generation Beauty Influencer Award, Best For Women Of Colour 2017‘.

Meanwhile, I was still travelling as much as I could in my spare time, documenting snippets on my YouTube channel via travel vlogs, while slowly falling out of love with the beauty industry. You see, the problem with drugstore foundation is something I faced as a teenager, but is still very much an ongoing issue to this day, over 20 years on.

Taking a step back from beauty made me realise that my true passion has always been travel. Over time, the focus of my blog changed and now is centred on mid-range to luxury independent travel for couples.

I often get told you’re so lucky you get to travel a lot” but I honestly believe that with some prioritising, you can explore the world while holding down a full-time job, and most importantly, without breaking the bank.

To date, I have travelled to 39 countries over 4 continents and am optimistic about getting to ’40 before 40′.

My ‘to-see list’ is just never ending, and I still have a while to smash that personal goal!

I hope to inspire you to do the same too!

I’m now a full-time content creator and fit my passion for travel, food and adventure around my life.

Since starting my blog almost 10 years ago, I’ve met some awesome people, travelled to some incredible destinations and worked with a range of brands I admire, including some of the biggest travel brands in the world.

On nishiv.com you’ll find me having endless fun on my adventures and reporting back, in the hope of giving you the confidence and knowledge to do the same. From weekend city breaks, to days out and events in London, itineraries for some of the most popular destinations.. I write about everything that takes my interest.

In real life, when I’m not travelling, you’ll most likely find me sat in Starbucks with my laptop, writing about my adventures or even planning my next getaway!

I’m on YouTube too!

Would love you to subscribe to my channel!
