Shopping for the man or woman who has everything is such a struggle. I mean, we all know that men are notoriously difficult to shop for anyway, but women can be difficult too – trust me, I know a handful of them! I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this way, so I’ve put together this guide of ‘affordable luxury’ gifts that I think most people would love to receive.
Gifting should feel like a treat to receive and therefore special, so I’ve included 15 gifts ranging from £20 to £150 in this guide. Just think of it as the things you’d love to unwrap but wouldn’t necessarily be comfortable treating yourself to and hopefully this will give you some inspiration when you’re Christmas shopping for that special person/people in your life.
Stocking fillers under £25
Any Charlotte Tilbury lipstick (£24) would be a real treat to unwrap on Christmas Day; there are so many shades to choose from in a variety of formulas but a universally flattering shade would be the highly coveted shade Pillow Talk. It’s a pinky nude matte shade that seems to work on virtually every complexion, so you can’t really go wrong!
The Charlotte Tilbury Mini Hollywood Lips* gift set is a fab alternative for any liquid lipstick lover. Priced at only £20, it contains two best-selling minis in the shades ‘Too Bad I’m Bad’; a rosy pink shade and ‘Show Girl’; a warm deep berry shade.
There are so many Huda Beauty Obsessions palettes to choose from; from neutrals, smokey black tones, bright emerald green shimmers and everything in between. Priced at £25, these are the perfect gift for any makeup aficionado and it’s a lovely way of trying more shadows from a brand they may be new to without forking out on a full sized palette. Each palette contains 9 highly pigmented shadows; a mix of matte and glitter shadows and it’s compact size with a large mirror makes it perfect for those who travel a lot too.
Heyland & Whittle have nailed their Christmas packaging this year. Their gorgeous candles and diffusers are a delight to receive all year round, but at this time of year, nothing quite compares to their festive Frankincense candle* and Winter Spice Scented reed diffuser*, priced at £30 each.
If you’re wondering what ‘winter spice’ smells like, its lovely heady mix of citrus and spices; cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Frankincense however, is a clear winner for me; it’s a smoky sweet & woody scent with a whisper of Oriental florals and I can’t get enough of it!
For the makeup lover, once again, you can’t go wrong with anything from Charlotte Tilbury to be honest. The packaging itself is a joy to behold and the products inside equally brilliant. My top picks would be a luxury eyeshadow quad, particularly this one in Pillow Talk* (£39), the Pillow Talk Cheek to Chic blush* (£30) or this gorgeous Magical Mini Travel brush set* (£45).
Huda Beauty is another great brand, and a great alternative to Charlotte Tilbury. The Desert Dusk eyeshadow palette (£56) is perfect for those who love to rock a bold eye makeup look full of glitter and sparkle!
This cashmere light grey snood from Fatface would make the perfect gift for her at this time of year. Priced at £62, the super soft snood is a generous size that wraps around the neck a couple of times. It’s a luxurious gift and perfect for feeling super warm and cosy when it’s nippy outside.
Like I said, shopping for men can be a chore, but this gift is possibly one of my favourites as it’s so unique. MINT is a new grooming and wellbeing on demand service exclusively for men. As it’s a new company, they only currently operate in London and their treatments include haircuts, shaves, facials, massages, waxing, threading, manicures/pedicures and makeup. Ranging from £40 to £80, men can book the treatments directly to their home, office or hotel.
“Time is your most precious gift,” or so says every sickly sweet inspirational quote you might find on Facebook. It turns out there may be some truth to the cheesy adage.. You just need to take the phrase literally.
A well-made watch is a gift that nobody will fake-smile at.
Adexe is an up and coming brand that you should check out if you’re looking to purchase a sleek new timepiece. Not only are their watches aesthetically pleasing, but they all come with interchangeable straps in a choice of two colours, enabling easy styling with your everyday outfits. On top of that, all of their watches are all priced at around £130 or under!
I’ve had this watch for a while (it’s currently on sale) and I’ve recently noticed that it keeps disappearing off my shelf and magically appearing on my husband’s wrist! His excuse? He thought it was his watch. *inserts eye-rolling emoji*
As a result, I’ve chosen this THEY Grande Blue & Rosegold watch for him for Christmas (thankfully he doesn’t read my blog!) Both watches are from the ‘THEY’ collection, meaning that they are unisex, but I particularly love how the blue looks against the rosegold and it makes a change from a traditional black watch face.
When it comes to luxury fragrances, it really doesn’t get much better than Jo Malone or Tom Ford, does it? Better still, they are both unisex, making them the perfect gift for him or for her!
I recently treated myself to a full size 100ml bottle of Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir cologne at world duty free when I was flying to Toronto, and to say that I’m obsessed would be an understatement! It’s my gift ‘from me, to me’ this year and I was hoping to save it until Christmas Day, but couldn’t resist opening it up to include in this guide.
Fun fact – when you buy a cologne in store, they spray the tissue paper wit
h the same fragrance and the scent honestly lasts for weeks! I’ve had this sitting, wrapped up in it’s original packaging for just over a month now and when I unwrapped it for the first time, the scent on the tissue paper has lingered and it smells divine!
Tom Ford Black Orchid is another fragrance I bought at world duty free a couple of years ago. Again, I bought the full size 100ml, but there is the option to purchase it in 50ml, making it slightly more affordable. As much as I love this fragrance, I must admit that Grey Vetiver is my Tom Ford fave as it’s just that little bit more masculine.
The ultimate gift for any beauty junkie this Christmas would have to be Charlotte’s Beauty Universe; an advent calendar containing 12 mini and full size award-winning beauty & skincare heroes! Not only are the products inside worth a whopping £196, but being a 12 day advent calendar, it means that ‘Day 1′ is technically Christmas Day!
Side note: I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been confused by 12 day advent calendars. I recently learnt that unlike a traditional calendar that is meant to be opened on 1st December, these start on the ’12 days of Christmas’ which is 25th December to the 5th January! – Please tell me I’m not the only one that didn’t know this!?
This really is the gift that keeps on giving..
I hope that this post has given you lots of ideas. Let me know if you purchase any of these items in the comments below. Happy shopping!
