Though lockdown restrictions are starting to ease slightly, I think we still have a long way to go before things go back to ‘normal’ – and working from home may be the new norm for you going forward.
Many of you may have found a (temporary) routine that works for you by now, but as someone who’s worked from home for years, I thought I’d share 5 things that might make working from home easier.
If this is going to be a long term thing for you, you may want to create a home office in your garage, a spare bedroom or choose sandblasted glass in home features, where you can literally add a frosted glass privacy screen to partition a room.
However, if you’re looking for some affordable quick fixes, I wanted to share some items to improve your days of working at home..
1. LAPTOP STAND
Being on my laptop for hours each day is doing my back and neck no favours and I’ve been meaning to invest in this stand for weeks now. I’ve been using shoeboxes as a temporary measure, but it really isn’t the same; my laptop overheats and it looks and feels clunky. This stand looks sleek, has heat protection and comes in 3 different colours – I’m definitely ordering one this week!
2. LONG LIGHTNING CABLE
Slightly random, but long lightning cables are a game changer, particularly if you work a lot on your phone like I do. You no longer have to sit on the floor, close to a plug socket every time you need to use your phone when the battery is low! I swear by mine.
3. COFFEE MACHINE
I’m sure you all know I love my coffee, but I honestly don’t think I’ve appreciated my Nespresso machine as much as I have recently in lockdown. It’s made my days working from home so much nicer, particularly because I wasn’t able to sit and work in a coffee shop. It’s a nice treat to have if you’re a coffee lover.
3. LAMP
Your work space needs to have good light or you will end up straining your eyes. So if wherever you are working is a little on the darker side or isn’t near a window I would recommend getting a desk lamp for the area. It honestly makes such a difference.
5. AIRPORDS
I use my AirPods every single day and couldn’t be without them! They’re great for zoom calls, editing videos & listening to music. What I like about them most is how comfortable they are to wear and that there are no wires to get in your way. A must-have in my opinion – particularly if you’re an Apple junkie like myself.
I hope some of these might help you during this time. If you’re bored and looking for different things to right now, I have put together a list of 101 things you can do, here.
Do you have anything else that makes working from home easier for you? Let me know in the comments.
