Stuck on what to get that person who’s more interested in plane tickets than presents? That’s me. So have no fear because I’m kicking things off this festive season with a Christmas gift guide for girls that travel!
I’ve spent a lot of time in airports, so I know that the struggle can be very real.. A few hours in when your phone battery is dead and you can’t find a plug socket and all you want to do is rest your head on something, anything.
So I’ve compiled a little list of things that make travelling easier, more stylish, save time and maybe more importantly, baggage allowance.
In an ideal world, I would travel in head to toe super-soft non-crease cashmere, but sadly, money doesn’t grow on trees. Instead I settle for a comfy neck cushion. This ingenious Hooded Travel Pillow with built in headphones is equally functional, stylish and small enough to tuck away in a bag when not in use. A wonderful gift for the seasoned traveller!
Give the gift of power this Christmas! Plenty of high street shops are selling cheap power banks now, but most are so slow and won’t even charge a phone to 50%! Pick one that can charge devices up to seven times and pair it with one of these braided cables. This is much more durable than the standard iPhone charger and it has a leather cord-tidy to keep things neat and easy to find.
I’ve had the Grid-It on my wishlist for a while. I am such a neat freak and this is the perfect way of storing cables, chargers, cameras, phones, adaptors and anything else that is likely to get lost in a suitcase. Genius!
My sister bought me a Lifeproof waterproof phone case last Christmas and it completely changed my Snapchat game when I went to Thailand! You can also get an iPad version, and my top tip is to insert a piece of paper inside the case first, seal it and dunk it into a bowl of water for around 5/10 minutes. If the paper is dry when you remove it, you know that the case isn’t damaged and that your phone will be fine!
This is a game changer for the traveller that loves to snorkel, scuba dive or simply just swim and take great photos!
No matter whether you roll, scrunch or stuff your things into your bag, weight is one thing you can’t control, so this is where digital scales come in handy. I take these with me so I can weigh my luggage on the return journey to avoid any nasty surprises (and fees) at the airport. Complete necessity for every shopaholic!
Now hear me out on this one, because it’s a strange one..
You know those hotel rooms that don’t have enough plug sockets? The ones where you end up unplugging the kettle, tv, minibar and hairdryer just to charge up your phones, cameras and iPads. My solution for that is this extension lead! Yes it’s bulky, but it means you only need to use one plug socket, hence one adaptor and the USB ports mean that you only need the USB cable to charge your phone. It has a surge protector too, meaning you can safely charge multiple items at the same time. Happy days!
Obviously great noise-cancelling ones like these Bose QuietComfort headphones are some of the best or go for and these Layla Rose Gold ones certainly are the prettiest. However, other great options include these rose gold in-ear Beats by Dr. Dre and these super affordable Ted Baker London Rockall headphones.
Unless they enjoy spending time at the luggage carousel waiting for their bag, please don’t buy a black suitcase (as tempting as it may be). They’ll want to stand out from the crowd, but my advice would be to not go too girly either. The novelty will wear off pretty quickly, especially with the other 25 pink cases on the carousel!
Think durable, easy to manoeuvre with zipped pockets and compartments that make packing easier like this Samsonite Lightcube 4 wheeler, this Samsonite Copper suitcase or this Dickens and Jones vintage classic.
A customised passport cover and luggage tag make a nice personal present. Personally, I would steer clear of tacky ‘Keep Calm and Travel On’ fuchsia versions, and opt for this classic leather and stylish passport case instead.
Clear plastic zip-up bags are great for separating toiletries, jewellery and even for storing wet swimwear. These M&S ones are a bargain too! I have three sets of these (I know!) and use them to keep my vlogging camera, spare batteries, charger and SD card secure, as well as the usual make-up and skincare.
For the traveller that regularly finds themselves in bustling cities or packed festivals (or places where pickpockets are a risk), then they’ll appreciate this Silk Undercover Bra Stash, Discreet body pouch or even these Pickpocket proof boy shorts! These can all securely hold a passport, credit cards and money.
So there you have my first guide for Christmas! I will be doing a gift guide for guys that travel too, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
What do you think? Did anything in particular catch your eye? Anything you think I’ve missed?
