With just over a month to go before Christmas, there is still time to make sure you look and feel fabulous this festive season. Whether you’re driving home for Christmas to see family, or heading out to glitzy parties to see old friends over the festive period, no doubt you’ll want to look your best.
I’ve come up with a few beauty tips to ensure you avoid any last-minute panics when, quite frankly, we all have enough to do at this time of year.
Radiant, Glowing Skin
Now isn’t the time to upset your beauty regime with new, unpredictable products. Stick to your trusty products that work for you and aim to drink at least two litres of water a day for beautiful skin. This will flush out any toxins and give you a natural glow.
Facial massage is also a fab way to achieve an instant glow, and used in combination with your skincare products increases their performance. Using your knuckles and finger tips, roll and knead the life back into your skin. This will stimulate lymphatic drainage and boost the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin.
Though you may like sipping on a tasty cosmopolitan, your skin, unfortunately doesn’t – Alcohol dehydrates your skin and leaves it feeling dry and looking dull and grey. To make sure your skin glows despite the endless flow of alcohol over the festive period, brush up on your skincare routine.
Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and use a hydrating face mask. I highly recommend the Origins Drink Up mask, it has been my saviour since the change in weather over the past few weeks – You can read about it here. I also recommend using a great cleanser and facial oil in the evening, followed by plenty of serum and/or moisturiser the next morning.
All those nights partying to Mariah Carey and Wham! are bound to leave your eyes looking tired. To look bright and alert over Christmas, give yourself a little eye massage to get rid of puffy eyes and keep them hydrated with a good eye cream.
Starting at the outer corner of one eye, work your way up between your brow bone and eye, rubbing as you go until you reach the outer edge of your eye. Use your ring finger around your eyes in a circular shape as this finger uses the least amount of pressure on such a sensitive skin area.
To get reduce the appearance of any dark circles, try my simple homemade remedy using a mixture of buttermilk and turmeric. Using this regularly will reduce the discolouration around your eye area and brighten it up.
If all else fails, dig out your trusty concealer!
The best beauty tip I can give you is.. Enjoy yourself!
It sounds so simple, but whatever you’re up to this Christmas, make sure you spend time with people you like and people that make you feel good about yourself. Having a great time is the perfect beauty treatment because when you’re having a great time, your skin glows, your eyes brighten and everybody warms to you and want to spend time with you.
