My hair is naturally very curly and I despised it before I discovered hair products, mostly because I used to walk around school sporting a Diana Ross hairstyle!
I’m still not in love with my hair, as everybody else I meet, seems to be. I take every opportunity to straighten it, although this is normally a 2-3 hour job!
My long, thick, curly hair is the reason why I’m so fickle about going to the hairdressers. I hate the whole experience and I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve left the salon with wet hair, because they’ve run out of time.. By the time I get home, I look like I’ve stuck my head in an electrical socket! I have yet to meet a good hairdresser that knows how to work with curly hair.
I’ve battled with frizzy hair my whole life, and it’s taken me over ten years to figure out how to style my hair, but I have finally found my holy grail; Boots Essentials Curl Creme I cannot rave about this product enough!
This not only defines and holds my curls, it also eliminates the frizz – everything I want in a hair product.
I towel dry my hair and apply the cream on damp hair, first massaging a small amount between my palms to emulsify the product and them smoothing it through my hair, often working from the ends up to the root (backwards, I know!).
I’ve noticed that if I miss out a section of my hair, it will go frizzy as it dries, and using too much product can make my hair very shiny and crispy. This is easy to rectify, I just scrunch my hair up a few times and then it feels much softer and natural.
One thing to note is that the packaging isn’t very travel friendly. Every time I travel with this, I find that it’s leaked everywhere..especially on flights! I now decant it out into a travel container so it doesn’t leak and is less bulky to pack.
The downfalls are the smell of the cream and how is quite heavy on the hair, weighing the curls down, and I find that I need to wash my hair every second day when I use this before I can reapply the product.
Having said all of that, and having tried numerous products over the years, the pros definitely outweigh the cons, and for less than £2, you get 250ml of product.. Now that’s amazing!
