A couple of weeks ago, I tried an Ikea hack to upcycle my old Vittsjo laptop table in an attempt to make my home Pinterest-worthy on a budget. It was so quick and easy to do and cost me just over a fiver! Not only do I now have a ‘new’ photography background (as if I needed another one!), I also have a beautiful work space as well.
I predicted (correctly) that I would receive lots of questions about the table; what I used, how I did it and how easy it was, so I filmed the entire process including before and after shots.
You will need:
- A table! I used my old Ikea Vittsjo Laptop Table
- Marble Contact Paper
- Scissors
- Squeegee or credit card (I found a squeegee works best)
- An extra pair of hands
- Patience ..and lots of it!! 🙂

Not bad, right? I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! So easy to do and it instantly made the table look and feel more ‘me’ (and every other blogger out there).
This marble contact paper can be used for just about any kind of surface; coffee tables, desks, kitchen worktops, sideboards etc – the possibilities are endless!
This little project has inspired me to revamp my kitchen; I would love to be able to install real marble worktops, but this isn’t ‘the home’ I want to live in for much longer and so I need to be thrifty. I’ve seen people use it to cover their worktops and I must admit I am very. very tempted to give it a go. So, watch this space!
