Is it just me that thought ‘January’ would never end this year?
I mean, in the space of four weeks we’ve gone from bitter cold, heavy snow, tropical temperatures and just a couple of days ago, the worst thunder & lightening I have seen in years. What is happening!? I don’t know whether to get the thermals out or the flip flops out from one day to the next!
Now that the long awaited sunshine has finally made an appearance, with Jass’ birthday just around the corner and the promise of warmer weather and longer days, it’s got me thinking about our next getaway..
If you watched the Travel Tag we filmed together, you’ll know that we’ve been lusting after Greece recently. Not only mainland Greece, but the islands too. There’s just something about all the blue and white; white washed buildings, crystal clear blue waters, little white coves, white sandy beaches and dramatic cliff faces that make me seriously happy.
I must admit, Zante hasn’t always appealed to me. I’d (wrongly) written it off as a party island full of 16-21 year olds celebrating the end of exams until a recent chat with a friend over dinner and a quick google search which proved me wrong.
Nestled in the heart of the Ionian Sea, the Greek island of Zakynthos (Zante), looks like the idyllic destination. If you’ve seen photos of Zante, then chances are they’re of this stunning bit of coastline; the iconic Nevagio Beach, otherwise known as Shipwreck Bay or Smugglers’ Cove.
You can only get to it by boat, and the thought of being surrounded by smooth white pebbles, dramatic cliff faces and glistening turquoise seas just cliches it for me!
Rhodes is one of Greece’s most picturesque and popular holiday islands and I can totally see why. With its breathtaking coastline, stunning beaches, bustling resorts, quaint houses and magnificent history, there appears to be something for everyone here!
The Old City of Rhodes, which incidentally is a World Heritage Site looks captivating and inviting; with plenty of narrow streets and wonderful medieval architecture, I can only imagine that losing yourself here would be a lot of fun!
I love experiencing a little bit of everything on holiday and while the Old Town looks incredibly quaint and charming, the picture perfect beautiful village of Lindos looks like the perfect spot for sundowners and chasing Greek sunsets!
Now, where’s my passport?
