If you haven’t heard of Look Good Feel Better, they are a wonderful charity that provide practical support and free services to women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of cancer treatment.
They have designed a range of makeup brushes, and a percentage of each sale is donated to the charity which is fantastic!
If you follow me on Snapchat, you’re probably accustomed to seeing all of my #bloggermail as it arrives, even before I take my blog photos. However, I have to admit that when this LGFB Makeover Brush Set, Foam Application Wand and Antibacterial Brush Sanitiser Foam landed at my door, I did hesitate.
As these are for a charitable cause, I desperately hoped that they were good enough to recommend as products in their own right. My reviews are always honest, and I would be very uncomfortable recommending a charity product if I didn’t believe it was truly worth it. Instead, I would advise people to make a donation instead.
Having said all of that, I’m pleased to report that these brushes have passed the test! They are amazing quality, weigh a decent amount so you have full control over application and are definitely the softest brushes I have used from the High Street – I highly recommend them!
The Makeover Brush Set includes a powder brush, duo-fibre finishing brush, tapered blending brush, detail brush and a protective pouch. Almost all you need for a full face of makeup, however, I feel that the collection would be complete with the addition of a flat shader brush.
The detail brush is perfect for a precise cut crease or running some shadow along the lower lash line, while the tapered blending brush effortlessly blends out shadows in the crease. My personal favourite is the finishing brush, which would be perfect for foundation application, however I love using it with powder contour to carve out my face. The duo-fibre bristles mean that the brush doesn’t hold too much product (so I don’t end up with two stripes across my cheeks), and the size of the brush is perfect for getting into any hollows and under the jawline to create natural shadows.
I don’t tend to set my foundation with powder as I don’t feel I need it, but this powder brush feels so soft and luxurious on the skin that I have found myself reaching for powder on more than one occasion!
Don’t be fooled by the size of the pouch either. I manage to fill it with at least ten brushes when I travel, and it’s perfect to just throw into my makeup bag without worrying about damaging my brushes.
The most impressive thing about these brushes? There has been zero shedding. None. Not even a little bit at first use. The quality is insane!
I was also sent the Foam Application Wand to try, but after a number of failed attempts, I admit defeat as I have no idea how to use it. It’s a great idea as beauty blender-type sponges are really in at the moment, and this is essentially a smaller version on a stick.
The texture of the sponge is very firm and soaks up all of the product when using it to apply foundation/concealer. The handle actually makes it harder to use which defeats the purpose of it, and although I tried using it both wet and dry, unfortunately this was a miss for me. If you like a firmer makeup sponge though, this will be perfect for you!
I was blown away by the Antibacterial Brush Sanitiser Foam. This can be used on both natural and synthetic brushes and not only does it kill 99.9999% bacteria, it’s really gentle, and it dries almost instantaneously.
If you’re in the market for some new brushes or just simply want to top up your collection, don’t overlook this fab affordable range. It’s a great feeling to think that your brush splurge will help fund those who are actively trying to help women suffering with cancer. It’s a no-brainer if you ask me!
