Facial oils seem to intimidate people, particularly those with oily skin and I felt exactly the same way before I tried The Body Shop Serum-in-Oil. I’m fully converted now, and as I’ve said before (here), oil doesn’t make you produce more oil, in fact when used on oily skin, it helps to control excessive production of oil.
The L’Oréal Age Perfect Extraordinary Facial Oil is formulated with 8 essential oils; lavender, marjoram, romarin, geranium, rose, camomile, orange and lavandin – and there isn’t a single one of them that my visage doesn’t like! As you can imagine, the combination of these oils create a gorgeous herbal / floral scent, which is quite delicate and not overpowering.
This is a dry, lightweight oil that absorbs easily and leaves a noticeable but gorgeous glow on the skin. It’s perfect for somebody that is just delving into the world of facial oils as it doesn’t leave a shine on the skin as some others do.
Although this oil is actually targeted towards mature women between the ages of 40 and 60, I don’t see why others can’t use it – I certainly do! It can be used twice a day, morning and night, however I prefer using it overnight so that the moisture from the oil can be absorbed while I sleep.
I like to use 2-3 drops after cleansing in the evening, and sometimes use a serum or moisturiser over the top if my skin needs it.
I’ve never used a product that has instantly transformed the appearance of my skin after only one use! I wake up each morning with amazing skin that feels so plump, hydrated, silky smooth and looks radiant.
In the morning, it creates a beautiful base for make-up and helps blend foundation out effortlessly. They key is to let it absorb completely for a minute or so before you put your make-up on. I have yet to try it over my make-up, which I must admit I don’t think I’m quite ready for yet! Apparently, a couple of drops warmed between your fingers and pressed onto your face over make-up adds an instant, dewy glow to the skin. – Let me know if you’ve tried this, and hopefully I’ll be brave enough to give it a go!
While I think that this is a miracle product, the inclusion of mineral oil in this formulation won’t be to everyone’s liking. As far as I know, my skin isn’t sensitive to it and I have been loving this oil regardless. I’ve been using this for three months now and as you can see, I’ve barely made a dent in it, about 1 centimetre to be precise, so a little really does go a long way!
This is the only product I have tried from this range, are there any others you think I am missing out on? Leave me a comment below.
