From the moment I got the email to say it had been dispatched, I was excited to record my first impressions and review the palette which you can see here.
It’s the only palette I have been reaching for this past week, and I love the variety of shades it has to offer.
Because of this, it seemed only appropriate that I collaborate with my lovely friend Dorota from iDorottka to bring you a makeup tutorial using the palette, and in case you missed the memo, she is the Queen of Makeup Revolution! No, really, she has a crown and everything! *inserts wink emoji*
Seriously though, if you ever need swatches or are looking for a review on any Makeup Revolution product, you need to check out her blog and follow her on Instagram and Snapchat. – I’m almost certain that she has more in her make-up stash than my local Superdrug has to offer!
We have both created a dramatic evening look because, well.. you know how much I like my dramatic eye makeup! I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and go for a gold and blue eye, complete with winged eyeliner.
Here’s my step-by-step tutorial.. and you can click here to see how to achieve Dorota’s look.
I started off by taking the shade Latte on a fluffy blending brush all through my crease, and deepened it up with Caffeine Fix, a darker brown. I didn’t take this as high up as Latte, I applied it on my crease and blended it upwards to create a gradient effect. Latte is the perfect transition colour; a warm brown, neutral tone that would be ideal for most complexions.
I took Super Gold on a MAC 239 brush and spritzed it with some MAC Fix+ just to make the colour brighter and make it pop. Starting at the inner-corner, I applied it about a third of the way across my lid before mixing Skylight and Midnight Rainbow together on a flat shader brush and applying it to the centre of my lid. Using a MAC 217 blending brush, I softly blended the gold shade into the blue so that there were no harsh lines.
For the outer V, I used to the shade Transformer on a pencil brush and blended it towards the centre of the lid and slightly upwards into the crease to create more of a dramatic look. Using the same brush, I mixed Transformer and Midnight Rainbow together and ran it along the lower lash line, before smoking it out with Latte on a clean blending brush.
I completed the look with Glimmer on my brow-bone, this is a beautiful subtle shimmery shade, perfect for a daytime highlight.
Lastly, I felt that this bold look needed to be paired with a winged liner. I drew this freehand (which is why it’s not perfect!) using the Elf liquid eyeliner and finished with my favourite Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
The other products I used were:
Brows: NYX Eyebrow Gel in Espresso
Primer: Nivea Men Post Shave Balm
Foundation: Kiko Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation in Warm Beige 90
Corrector: Bobbi Brown Corrector in Deep Peach
Concealer: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Caramel
Highlight: Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer in Nude
Highlighter: theBalm Mary Lou Manizer Luminizer
What do you think of my makeup look? Is it something you would wear?
