New Year, New Resolutions for 2016!

New Year, New Resolutions for 2016!

With the start of every year comes resolutions.. Now I’m not usually one for making new year’s resolutions as I find it sets me up for failure. Saying that, this year I’ve decided to make a small list of personal and blogging resolutions to keep me on track through the year.

Since reading The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up a few months ago, I’ve been on a bit of a tidying spree. Tackling my wardrobe was a piece of cake, and my shoe collection was easier than I thought, but the thought of decluttering my vanity and makeup storage is enough to give me a migraine! The aim is to finally sort through all the products, possibly have a blog sale and get round to filming my most requested makeup collection video! Let me know if you’re interested in either/both and hopefully that will stop me from slacking.

Trying new products is great, but I find that sometimes my old favourites get forgotten about. To prevent wastage I am going to try and finish as many products as I can this year. Which brings me to my next resolution..

I know what you’re thinking! You’ve seen my ‘made-up’ face on YouTube and Instagram, and are probably wondering if there is actually anything left for me to slap on my face!? Snapchat is a place where I don’t look so glam, and that’s the true reality of working from home. I sometimes find that five days will go by before I realise I can’t even remember the last time I wore mascara, never mind lipstick. While it’s great to be makeup free and let your skin breathe, part of my job is to test out new products, and well.. that can only be done if I give them a fair trial!

This time last year, I told myself that I’d try to read 12 books throughout the year as I thought one book per month would be quite achievable. It’s safe to say that I failed and only read about 5 or 6. I’m determined to see that resolution through this year and reach for a book instead of my phone when I get into bed.

I want to make my blog better, produce higher quality content and improve my photography skills. My weekly posts have been fairly consistent this year; every Tuesday morning and occasionally Thursday too when I have a lot to say. I will be sticking to that schedule for now but would like to blog more often, so watch this space!

I love that I’ve stuck to my blog schedule, but feel that my youtube channel is lacking somewhat in that department. Currently I randomly upload videos once or twice a week and this year I’m aiming to create a schedule and stick to a specific day and time. I’m setting the bar high and would love to reach 10,000 subscribers by the end of the year! Please click here to subscribe to my channel, your support means the world to me.

The blogging world is great, but I’ve found that people ‘don’t really get it’. They don’t understand why I never leave the house without my camera, often my macbook and why I need to document my day/life on social media. I can see it from their point of view though, it is a bit weird to be out with somebody instagramming their lunch or doing a mini snapchat haul of the 2 lipsticks they just bought! Ha.! It would be amazing to meet other like-minded bloggers, if only to just talk about facial oils as excitedly as if it was an Eastenders cliffhanger!

A few months ago, I discovered Twitter chats and they’re a great way to connect with other bloggers. Although I’ve joined in a couple of times, I’ve just found myself on twitter at the right time and got lucky! I’ve done a lil’ bit of research on the days and times they happen so I can get involved more often. If you wanna know the info, let me know and I’ll be happy to put it all in another post. I think these are all very realistic and achievable. I’ll admit that the only one that scares me a little is setting a schedule for my videos as I’m constantly worrying about running out of content or technology failing me! I’ll get there eventually, I’m sure!

I wanna know if you have any resolutions? Have you ever stuck to them for the entire year? Let me know in the comments and if you have, well done!!
