Happy New Year!!
I can’t believe Christmas is over and here I am writing my first post of 2018! I hope Santa was kind to you and you all had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.
I’ve been asked a few times to show what I got for Christmas this last year, and while I filmed a video back in 2015 and 2016, I decided not to do one this time as we didn’t go too crazy with the gifts last year. Jass and I agreed not to exchange gifts as we’d only just come back from New York, where we pretty much bought everything we wanted.. I mean, if you can’t shop till you drop in New York, then where can you!?
You may however remember the ‘not-so-secret’ secret santa I did with the fabulous Parie last year, and it was such a success that we decided to do another one this year! Like last year, we set a generous budget of £50 each and posted our gifts to one another, and once again I answered the door to my postman who was carrying two big, heavy boxes from her. She completely spoilt me again!
Inside this gorgeous sequin-embellished MAC pouch, I found an OPI nail polish in I Vant To Be A-Lone Star, a Ciaté London nail polish in Dangerous Affair (my perfect wine/burgundy shade for this time of year), a Makeup Revolution Liquid Highlighter Liquid Lustre Gold which I’m dying to try as I’ve never used a liquid highlighter before and two super cute personalised tins of Vaseline for me and Jass. How adorable are they!?
She also bought Jass an insulated camera lens travel mug which was very generous and just what every #InstagramHusband needs! However, unsurprisingly I didn’t manage to photograph it before he took it to work with him! I love that she includes something for him every year, it’s so unnecessary, but extremely thoughtful at the same time.
I’m intrigued by the Neom Mood Lifting On The Go Mist. Apparently this has been designed to inspire happiness and lift your mood – I can’t wait to see how it works!
Every item was individually wrapped with a cute little note attached to it – it was really fun to open it all up and see what was inside! I was super excited to find a Body Shop Vanilla Chai Hand Cream inside the pouch. Having stocked up on Vanilla Pumpkin hand cream a few months ago after hearing so many people rave about it, I totally get the hype now!
It is one of the best hand creams I have tried as it feels so luxurious; it’s lightweight without being too runny, absorbs into the skin quickly, hydrates my extremely dry hands well and while I’m not overly keen on the pumpkin scent, I think I may have just found my new favourite Body Shop scent. I have a feeling that this may be one of their limited edition Christmas scents though.. *inserts sad face emoji*.
She also bought me this cute Ted Baker rose gold compact mirror which is going be really handy to throw into my new handbag which I bought in New York. (Let me know if you’d like to see a ‘What’s in my handbag’ style video.)
Speaking of handbags, this beautiful Diane von Furstenberg Love Tuxedo Card Case in Shocking Pink is also perfect as I also downsized my big wallet to the Kate Spade Cameron Street Mellody wallet while I was away too. While I love having the extra space in my bag to accommodate my vlogging camera and mini tripod (true story), I do miss not having all of my loyalty cards to hand when I’m out shopping, so this really is ideal for that! The bright pink colour will also mean that (hopefully) I’ll spot it easily within the depths of my handbag, ha ha!
It isn’t really a Christmas present without some smellies is it!? I’ve never heard of this brand, but have it on good authority that the Bilou Cream Foam Cotton Candy body lotion and shower foam are literally the nicest smelling things ever, so I can’t wait to start using them! 😉
I already have the Kat Von D Shade + Light eye shadow palette, but hardly reach for it any more as I often use the smaller palettes I carry in my travel makeup bag. This mini quad palette is the perfect size though, and of course it contains very wearable shades for every neutral eyeshadow lover! *cough cough*
Last but certainly not least, and possibly one of my favourite gifts was this Colourpop Staycation Best Of Lippie Stix Collection! I’ve been dying to try Colourpop for ages but as I’m sure you know by now, I’m not a fan of shopping for makeup online, unless it’s a repurchase.
This set contains 6 lipsticks in the shades Cookie, Brink, Grunge, LBB, I Heart This and Bossy, but as you may have noticed, I seem to have lost one within the depths on my handbag! – Don’t worry Parie, I know it’s in there somewhere..
I haven’t had a chance to try all of these yet, but the shades look gorgeous and they’re all matte, so of course they’re right up my street. Again, if you’d like an in-depth review or a lip swatch video, just let me know in the comments below.
I’m so impressed by how well Parie knows me; she did really well on a £50 budget and I can’t wait to start using everything! Expect more in-depth reviews on some of these items here or over on my youtube channel. If you fancy a peek at what I bought for her, check out her post here.
Make sure you’re following Parie on all her social media accounts too as she’s awesome!
