The Sanctuary 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask is a ‘warming charcoal treatment for perfectly clean and purified skin’.
At first, I applied this mask on too thick, which is so easy to do! I quickly learnt that you only need a small amount and have to spread it in a thin layer over your face. – If you want more than a couple of uses from the tube! Ha.! The formula has a strange green-grey colour and is really thick and gel-like, making it difficult to move around. It requires a bit of elbow grease when applied as it starts to warm up on initial contact and cools down really quickly. –You need to get it off your fingers, and on your face at the speed of light!
The self-heating effect is a bit of an initial shock, it feels almost too hot, but that only lasted for a split second before turning into a lovely warm sensation that enveloped my skin. The warm clay and kaolin draw out the impurities in your skin, deep cleans your pores and leaves you with clearer skin. -It really works!
I noticed that after a minute or so, the mask starts to separate on my skin, moving to certain parts, for some unknown reason! I still haven’t figured out why, but I’ve heard others saying the same thing, so I assume it’s normal.
The one thing to note is that you’re likely to get some blemishes or a small breakout within three days of using this mask. This is normal as it draws out any impurities from your skin and I would use this about a week before a big event, not the night before.
I use this mask as a regular deep cleanse, twice a week, after cleansing. I wait for 5 minutes and then remove it with my trusty muslin cloth. It clears out any congested pores and helps brighten my skin.
