I don’t know about you but I can’t remember the last time one of my New Year’s resolutions didn’t include the words ‘travel more’!
2017 was a pretty epic year in terms of travel; I was able to tick five destinations – Malaysia, Bali, Singapore, Copenhagen and Oslo off my bucket list and go back to New York! However, the January blues have well and truly kicked in and I’m already thinking about the trips I want to take this year..
Travel is my biggest passion and I don’t think I can cope with being at home for more than 3 or 4 months before I get itchy feet and want to fly away somewhere!
For me, travel is all about exploring new cultures, creating new memories and improving my photography skills as well as the usual R&R, and Jass and I like to go on one big (sometimes luxury) holiday each year with a few short getaways in between to break up the year. Having said that, we’re almost always spontaneous as they’re often the best trips!
By booking a last minute deal you can find some really affordable flights and hotels and Destination2.co.uk have an incredible list of exotic, luxury holiday destinations and adult only options that I already have my eye on!
Dubbed as heaven on earth; I think the Maldives is the ideal luxury destination for pure relaxation. Pictures of the bright green island surrounded by clear white beaches and shimmering turquoise sea just clinches it for me.
The thought of basking on a sundeck while enjoying the heart-stopping views of the Indian Ocean is like a dream! The whole place seems to be the perfect vantage point for taking the perfect
Again, boasting turquoise waters and immaculate white sands, the Bahamas would make for an incredible trip! Ridiculously, three years ago, Jass and I went on a 3 day cruise from Miami to the Bahamas, but we never managed to get off the ship due to stormy weather! I’d love to go back and actually explore the island this time. Can you tell I’m a complete water baby? Give me a pool or the sea any day and I’ll be in my happy place! – Particularly at this time of year, when we’re scraping the ice off our windscreens in the mornings and wearing 12 layers just to nip to the shops.. it’s the dreamy beaches that hold the most allure!
Having visited Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia in the last few years, we’re keen to explore more of SE Asia.
With a captivating blend of spirited cities, elegant temples, history, culture, street food and beautiful beaches; Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos have been on our bucket list for a while and it’s a big trip that we’d like to take at some point. Ahh, what I wouldn’t give to be on a boat cruise around Ha Long Bay right now!
SE Asia boasts the adventure of a lifetime of adventure, and not just to the average gap-year backpacker!
Now I just need to book me some flights!
What’s on your travel bucket list?
