What is a twitter chat?
A Twitter chat is a scheduled conversation on Twitter that is based around a particular hashtag. It is a public chat that allows everyone to follow the discussion and participate in it. Dropping in regularly can help expand your contacts as it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers, and provides an opportunity to learn and grow. I have even found some inspiration from it for future blog posts, such as this one.
What are hashtags?
Hashtags are fundamentally used to help identify the subject matter of a tweet, and there are so many out there which can get confusing, especially if you’re new to twitter. While the funny ones are funny, they’re too obscure to be searchable so they won’t help you get noticed if that’s your goal.
#bbloggers is always a popular one for Beauty Bloggers, but there are some others that I’ve found, and these are also used on twitter chats. Feel free to save and share this image.
When are the Twitter chats?
There are hundreds of Twitter chats that happen all over the world, at different times during the week, so you need to do a little bit of research to find the one’s that are most relevant to you and your blog. If you can’t find one, why not start your own?
I have created a table below which includes the Day, Time, Topic of conversation, Hashtag and Twitter Account hosting the chat (this info is correct at the time of posting). These happen every week, and there is also a daily chat that happens every weekday at 1pm and 5pm GMT which is not tailored to a specific niche and can be used by everyone.
I hope you found this helpful or even found some new chats that you didn’t know about. As always, if you have any questions please drop me a line or leave me a comment below.
As you may have seen last week, I’m definitely guilty of neglecting twitter chats, but I’m aiming to get more involved this year, so hopefully I’ll see some of you over on Twitter! If you’d like to follow me, my username is @nishiv_mua or you can click here.
