Hi! My name is Nishi and I’m a skincare hoarder.
Can you tell!?
I was tidying my vanity and makeup storage last week when I found a small skincare stash that I couldn’t even remember buying. That’s when I came to the realisation that so many of the products I own are hardly used because I’m constantly buying new items all the time.
As I continued tidying, I kept finding the odd moisturiser or toner stashed away in every drawer and toiletry bag – In fact, I found stuff all over the house and decided that now is the time to go on a spending ban.. Eek!
I would be lying if I said that I’m looking forward to this, but I reckon that I’m up to the challenge. I may find some products that I don’t like, and I know that some of them are used or even almost empty, I reckon I have enough to last me for the next few months. What do you think?
I’m not setting a specific date or time frame, as I know it will constantly be on my mind and I’ll be making a
mental actual list ready to go and splurge when the day arrives. I just know myself too well.
I’m a minimalist in every other aspect of my life; I find decluttering so therapeutic, but when it comes to beauty (and stationery) I simply cannot control my hoarding tendencies.
Don’t get me wrong, I will always continue to try new products; it’s kind of ‘my job’ as a blogger, but I’m embracing minimalism for the next few months, and to hold myself accountable, I have photographed my entire collection (aside from the odd serum or cleanser I found after taking these photos). I’m look forward to a huge ‘Empties’ post or video in the near future. – Let me know which you prefer.
So yes, it has come to this; the two words that I feared ever having to associate with.. SPENDING BAN. At the very least, I am looking forward to saving some money and freeing up some space in my drawers.
Wish me luck!
Spending bans are pretty common in the blogosphere and I appreciate that they’re perhaps not the most interesting thing to read about, but blogging about it is the only way I know I’ll be held accountable and therefore stick to it.
I’m starting off with just skincare because the just thought of sorting through my makeup collection fills me with dread, but i’ll try to be good! *inserts winking emoji*
