The Best Vegan Restaurants In Berlin

Cocktail at Bamboo Leaf Vietnamese restaurant, Berlin

As I’ve said before, the Berlin food scene is incredible. I have visited twice now and the city completely exceeded my expectations and quickly proved itself to be a true foodie heaven, especially when it comes to plant-based eating.

From casual street food spots to fully vegan restaurants pushing the boundaries of flavour, Berlin really does have it all.

That said, perfection is elusive, and not every meal lives up to the hype. So in the spirit of honesty, I wanted to share both the highs and the lows – the best vegan restaurants in Berlin, alongside a few that were, frankly, a bit of a let-down. Because if you’re planning a trip (or already live there), knowing where to eat and where to avoid is just as important.

Where To Eat – The Best Vegan Restaurants In Berlin

Bamboo Leaf

Bamboo Leaf Vietnamese restaurant, Berlin

The vibrant Bamboo Leaf restaurant has hip, Asian-style stunning decor (the photos don’t do this place justice) and offers traditional Vietnamese eats, pho & creative sushi.

Their cocktails were lovely, particularly the home cocktail which is an unusual blend of rice schnapps, guava nectar and almond syrup. Sweet and delicious.

We ordered the veggie uramaki and the Futo veggie baked sushi roll to share, both of which were absolutely stunning.

The Bamboo Leaf menu consists of a wide range of Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisines, so there is something for everyone.

The only thing to note, which I’m sure doesn’t need to be said is, double check about whether the vegetarian or vegan dishes contain fish sauce. They don’t make it clear on the menu.

Evin Pizza & Pasta

I fell in love with Cacio e pepe when I visited Rome a few years ago, and to date haven’t had anything comparable, until Evin Pizza & Pasta’s version. This was simply stunning!

Cacio e pepe at Evin pizza and pasta, berlin

While this isn’t strictly a vegan restaurant, the Evin Pizza Pasta menu is great for vegans and vegetarians alike with a whole variety of offerings.

We did receive a complimentary tiramisu at the end of our meal, which sadly didn’t wow us. It was extremely rich, so unless that’s your bag, I’d just stick to the savoury menu.

penne arrabiata with two large pizzas in the background

On my second visit, I ordered the penne arrabbiata which I asked to add mushrooms to. It will never fail to surprise me how such a simple dish can be so delicious, and this certainly hit the spot. Glorious!

Really great cheap eats, no frills restaurant with brilliant friendly service.

Meet Me Halfway

This family run Persian deli is a fab spot for both breakfast or lunch. Slightly more on the pricey side in comparison to elsewhere in Berlin, but for good reason.

persian restaurant - adas polo saffrom rice with raisins and dates with a side salad, hummus and a green juice

I visited twice in one trip to Berlin, ordering the Adas Polo for breakfast; a lentil rice served with salad and herb yogurt, which I swapped out for hummus to make it vegan. This was delicious – and definitely somewhere I’ll be back to try more of the menu.

On my second visit, I ordered the Meet Me Vegan mezze platter and it was insanely delicious. A huge plate full of grilled veg, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, vine leaves, salad and bread – it was my idea of breakfast heaven!

Ho Lo Asia Restaurant

In complete contrast to the Italian above, the service here wasn’t great.

The food however, is the reason Ho Lo Asia Restaurant Berlin made it to the list. Delicious!

I ordered the vegan glassnoodle salad to start which was lovely, light and refreshing. It was missing a dressing, so I added some soya sauce and it was perfection.

vegan duck at Ho Lo Asia restaurant, Berlin

The vegan duck main was the star of the show for me. As a lover of seitan mock meats, I’ve come to find that vegan duck is always a win for me for some reason.

So flavourful, this is a must try. Delicious!

Brammibal’s Donuts

I know, I know. This isn’t a restaurant.

However, I couldn’t not mention Brammibal’s Donuts.. an adorable little vegan donut and coffee shop serving handmade donuts that are made fresh every morning by real bakers.

Speaking of which, I have to add that the staff are brilliant here.

Brammibal's donuts, 3 vegan donuts

The menu is constantly changing, with a few classics.

We ordered the Tiramisu, White Nougat Pistachio, Banoffee and Bienenstich (roughly translating to bee sting) which is a german classic; filled with vanilla custard to share.

I’ve said this many times in the past, but I do not have a sweet tooth, though I can appreciate great quality desserts and these donuts were a real delight.

Tiramisu was top tier for me (give me anything with coffee and I’m a fan), followed by the banoffee.

Location: Brammibal’s have a few branches dotted around the city; we visited the one in Kreutzberg. Alte Potsdamer Str. 7, 10785 Berlin, Germany

Vedang

As far as cheap restaurants in Berlin go, look no further! Vedang is a fast food vegan eatery in the Mall of Berlin doling out vegan burgers, wraps & finger foods.

The three of us ordered döner kebab wraps with cheesy chips..

Delightful!

Other options at Vedang include crispy chicken patty, hamburgers, veggie burgers and a beyond burger in either a wrap or burger bun – and honestly, we wanted to try it all!

They even do a CBD burger containing 5% CBD oil which is the first time I’ve ever seen something like that on a menu!

Neni Berlin

NENI Berlin is a chain restaurant that is part of 25h hotels and the infamous Monkey Bar.

Spicy Karamellisierte Auberginen at NENI berlin

I ordered the Spicy Karamellisierte Auberginen (Spicy Caramelised Aubergine) with ginger, red chilli, toasted sesame, coriander and Japanese rice.

Sounds tasty, right?

Sadly, it was extremely bland. It literally just tasted like aubergine in a tomatoey sauce with undercooked sushi rice. Disappointingly nothing like described.

It’s very rare for me to leave more than half the food on my plate, but I simply could not eat this. It was atrocious.

We ordered hummus to share and that had far too much horseradish in it which was odd and the others didn’t like their meals either. Service matched the food to be honest. It was bad.

This places comes up quite high on lists of ‘where to eat in Berlin’ but we thought it was very overpriced, given the food and service were awful. So I would not recommend it at all.

Save your money and have a much better meal at one of the more affordable eateries above.

However..

Do visit Monkey Bar for drinks. The queues to get in in the evenings are excruciatingly long, but it’s so worth it for the 90’s throwback music and fabulous vibe. In the day, you can see the monkeys in the neighbouring zoo from the balcony which is what gives them their name!

Quy Nguyen Vegan Living

If you’re anything like me, you might get excited to discover a vegan restaurant anywhere, but this was a real let down. While this Vegan Vietnamese restaurant has great decor and is a wonderful concept, I’d say this eatery is style over substance as the dishes arrived far too quickly and were both pretty bland to be honest.

vegan bun cha in berlin

I ordered the bun cha (I fear nothing will be comparable to the bun cha I ate in Hoi An) but regardless, the spring rolls here, were much better.

The Vietnamese coffee at least was decent.

This place is cash only, which is a real inconvenience to be honest. I cannot tell you the last time I converted any currency for travelling around Europe, thanks to the likes of Monzo.

This wasn’t for me. However if bland food is your vibe, give it a go. You may be surprised.
