It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of the Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse (see my review here) and that I was devastated when I ran out (here) – yes, I’m aware that’s quite dramatic, but I don’t think I’ve ever really felt that way about a cleanser before and I’ve certainly not used one up that quickly. I used it religiously and it literally changed my skincare game and improved the condition of my skin, so it’s definitely at the top of my repurchase list once I’ve made a noticeable dent in my current stash.
Summer, or ‘Summer as we know it in the UK’ may be drawing to a close, but this Pixi Summer Makeup Essentials delivery was a very welcome treat and it came at just the right time. Having never tried anything but the infamous Double Cleanse – I know, I know I’m missing out on the Glow Tonic – I was keen to try more from the brand, and who doesn’t love a surprise makeup delivery!?
The Nourishing Lip Polish is a revolutionary 2-in-1 lip product that exfoliates and helps repair and protect dry lips – leaving them feeling soft, supple and plump. Perfect for any matte lip lovers like myself!
Housed in an innovative squeezy tube, the applicator has some unique silicone spikes on it (they aren’t sharp) which not only help to apply the product evenly and exfoliate, but the spikes stimulate circulation; giving a healthy and plumped look and feel to the lips.
The formula is easy to control with just one squeeze of the tube providing enough product to work into the lips and the ‘spikes’ are ideal for massaging the lips to remove any dry and flaky skin. It is perfect when used around 15 minutes before applying any liquid lipstick as that gives enough time for it to replenish the lips and provide a smooth base for the lipstick to glide onto. For those days when you want to skip the lipstick, there’s no need to wipe this off – the formula can remain on your lips, acting as a lip balm; without leaving a sticky or glossy residue behind.
With a blend of shea butter, apricot and grapefruit oils, both the applicator and formula are a clear winner for me, and the travel friendly squeezy tube is just an added bonus! I haven’t tried anything like this before; it’s fuss free, mess free and so effective that I am more than ready to wave goodbye to those traditional sugary lip scrubs in the glass jars.
This Makeup Fixing Mist has a beautiful, gentle formula; infused with Rose Water and Green Tea which feels lovely and soothing on the skin. Aside from being a great setting spray, it leaves a really nice soft focus effect which I love and it really hydrates the skin both prior to makeup application and afterwards.
It’s perfect for calming, soothing and refreshing skin on a hot day and I reckon it would be an awesome treat for the skin if you were to store it in the fridge beforehand. I love multi-tasking products that actually work, this smells wonderful and I love using this one on the go to refresh my makeup – it’s quite a nice size to just throw into your handbag.
The Quick Fix Powder in Translucid is another offering that is great to use on the go. This lightweight powder is housed in cute, fuss-free packaging and leaves a beautiful soft focus finish on the skin
Admittedly, I rarely set my foundation with powder, but in the summer months, my oily/combination skin can get the better of me and this finely milled powder absorbs shine really well. It doesn’t alter the shade of my foundation which is a big deal for me as many setting powders leave my skin looking ashy and I love the flawless, airbrushed look this gives my skin.
The powder puff is adorable and surprisingly it works well, though I must admit I still prefer unscrewing the top half and using a brush – Old habits die hard!
As the name suggests, the MultiBalm 2 in 1 Cheek & Lip Colour is a cream-to-powder formula can be used on the both the cheeks and lips.
I have the shade Baby Petal (there are 5 to choose from) and this is a soft nude with a slight pink tone. While I’m not the biggest fan of blush, this is nicely pigmented to give a lovely youthful touch of colour to my cheeks and it’s perfect for minimal makeup days. It doesn’t drag on the skin and I like that it applies like a cream and dries down to a powder finish, making it effortless to diffuse out with just your fingers or a damp sponge.
Personally, I would have opted for a slightly deeper tone if I were to use it on my lips too as this particular shade is far too pale for me. It’s great for adding an ombre effect in the centre of a darker lip colour, but I tend to just use this on my cheeks and I like how natural it looks.
I have really enjoyed trying these Pixi summer essentials and love that the brand offer such high-quality products at reasonable prices making them more accessible for people. Have you tried any of these products?
